FINE ART / FINE ARCHITECTURE

My artwork has been an enjoyable outlet as well as a helpful tool for my architecture. Sketching and painting buildings was stressed during my training at Notre Dame. Pastel portraiture and street drawing have become more recent interests. Creating art has helped me in understanding color, proportion, and composition. And it has made me a better architect.

I never made a conscious decision to be an architect, but I have been one my whole life. I enjoy combining creativity with problem solving with engineering all within the framework of a team dedicated to helping the client. It is a fun process.

I am not known for a defined architectural style. My job is to analyze the site, budget, and design objectives with the client. Each equation is different and so is each result.

I strive to get my clients the greatest value for their investment. Efficiency of the floor plans, structural forms, and building systems means more money can be spent on finishes and less on building complexity. I would rather my client have a nice kitchen than a complicated foundation.

I have kept my operation small so that I can continue doing architecture. I worked for a firm that grew to where my role was to bring in the work and then delegate it to the staff. I want to be the person that designs the home, attends meetings, and answers the phone calls. When my clients hire me, they are getting me.
